Frequently Asked Questions / About the Studio

Q. Why is the studio heated and what are the benefits of Hot Practice?
A. Practice in heated room provides deeper stretch of muscle fibers and tendons and helps prevent injuries to these areas during your practice. Heat also helps increase circulation which improves circulation to tissues and organs and enhances the functioning of the immune system.

Heat makes our classes more challenging and increases cardiovascular circulation, however we always encourage students to be mindful of their bodies and pace themselves to the intesity appropriate for for their own practice.

The benefits are endless to Body Heat Hot Pilates & Yoga classes. Improved movement, flexibility, increased circulation, strength, improved sleep patterns, including reduction in stress. Regular practice ( at least 3 times a week ) can reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases, ( e.g. arthritis, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and chronic fatigue )

Q. Why is Body Heat different from other studios?
A. We are not your typical yoga and pilates studio.  Walking into our studio is like walking into a boutique cozy spa.  Students will find candles going at the front desk, bathrooms and in each studio, fresh flowers and our fire place on.  We go out of our way to keep our facility immaculate by having an on site house keeper to make sure bathrooms, common areas and studios floors are constantly cleaned and sanitized.  We have a community lounge area and offer free wireless service.

Q. Does Body Heat smell, like many hot studios?
A. No, tremendous research and expense has gone into state of the art surroundings as well as eco-freindly materials that are easily sanitized between classes as well as high tech equipment and construction materials that prevent mold, mildew and associated smells.

Q. Why does Body Heat not use carpet flooring?
A. Over a year of research was dedicated to finding the optimal flooring system that would withstand the hot humid enviornment, provide cushion & traction for Hot Yoga & Hot Pilates and most importantly, be easily cleaned and sanitized between classes.  We found these elements of paramount importance to maintaining a clean odor free environment.

As a courtesy and out of respect to all students, interruptions to the class are not allowed. Our classes will start promptly at the scheduled times and often the studio will be closed during class to proved addition security and safety of our students who are taking class. Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to assure a spot in class.

Q. How often should I practice?
A. A successful yoga practice requires discipline, consistency and commitment. To experience the true benefits of a yoga practice, we recommend practicing four to six days per week. A practice of two to three days per week, if consistent, will create transformation over time. Develop the spirit of repetition and dedication in your practice and you will see results.

Q. What if I am not flexible or I’m a bit over weight?
A. Our classes are designed to provide flexibility and promote weight loss. Flexibility is something yoga gives you; you don’t have to be flexible to start a yoga practice. Yoga brings flexibility to the body. When you sit a lot during the work day, or when you’re engaging in repetitive motion activities, you’re shortening your muscles; yoga allows you to lengthen and expand, and release toxins that build up during these activities.

Increased flexibility is not yoga’s only objective, nor its only benefit. The ultimate benefit of yoga – to harmoniously unite body, mind and spirit in a healthful physical practice – can be experienced regardless of whether you’re able to easily touch your toes.

Q. Can I bring my son or daughter to class with me?
A. Body Heat Hot Pilates & Yoga does not currently offer any form of day care. If your child is between 12 – 18, they can attend class with you or another adult. If your child is under 12, we don’t typically recommend that they attend class, but this is up to the studio manager to determine. Please talk with your studio manager regarding specific situation.
