Body Heat prides itself on giving back to the community so we offer a variety of classes where enrollment fees are donated to local causes. Every few months, we also host a special non-profit event called Detox/Retox, where local vendors set up shop in our studios to sell their goods or services for the evening. If you know any individuals or groups in desperate need, please tell us their story by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org so we can help.
Since 1990, The Shade Tree has helped homeless and abused women and children, victims of domestic violence, victims of street violence, female veterans, homeless youth, and physically disabled persons. Their programs allow women to rebuild their lives by finding employment, securing permanent housing, and becoming productive members of the community.
The Shade Tree is the only 24-hour shelter designed specifically to meet the needs of women and children in Southern Nevada. They provide 365 permanent and 50 temporary beds.
In 2011, Body Heat founder Karly Urata started The Girls Night Out program -- an event that raises over $150,000 per year through various community fundraising activities for The Shade Tree.
Yoga Across America (YAA), now under the Baptiste Foundation, was created to inspire communities across the country and improve their well-being with mindful yoga practices. Sessions are held in schools, military bases, parks, homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, and many other locations for free.
In September 2014 our Rocklin, CA location became part of YAA, hosting a donation-based class with all proceeds going to the Sacramento area’s neediest. In addition to this, we joined in the Day of Peace event, teaching the 108 Sun Salutations and sharing love, peace, and yoga throughout the day.
Every year, Body Heat participates in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, offering free classes to all breast cancer survivors and to those currently battling the disease. Each studio also participates in donation-based classes to help raise funds for breast cancer research.
